LED Light Therapy is an elegant healing solution that triggers the natural production of collagen to improve skin pigmentation, fine lines, and promote a plumper, more youthful appearance. We offer an array of Lightwave Therapies from our expert Skin Therapist in our luxury Remuera clinic.

Here we explain how LED Light Therapy works, what to expect from your treatment, and the types of Lightwave Therapies we offer

How Lightwave Therapy Works

Lightwave Therapy – or LED Light Therapy – is a safe, pain-free skin rejuvenation therapy offered at our luxury cosmetic clinic in Auckland, NZ. This healing and revitalising treatment is suitable for all skin types and can be performed several times a week as an initial course – even on sensitive skin.

Working to combat environmental damage, fine lines, acne and wrinkles, Lightwave Therapy supports increased cellular metabolism, encouraging skin cells to soak up light and transfer this into energy. Skin cells then use this energy to heal, which promotes skin rejuvenation. Eliminating dead skin cells is vital for skin health and a more youthful appearance.

As we age, cellular activity begins to decline, decreasing collagen and elastin production. LED Lightwave Therapy can be a fantastic way to restimulate these sluggish skin cells and address uneven skin tone by enabling the natural collagen production process.

What To Expect From Your Treatment

As your LED Lightwave treatment commences you will initially see a bright light, however, this brightness will fade as your eyes adjust during the skin rejuvenation therapy. Lightwave Therapy treatment is completely safe and will not cause any ocular harm or discomfort as goggles will be worn for the duration of your treatment.

Our therapist performs a massage on the hands and arms while the Lightwave Therapy works on your skin health and clients report a mild warmth during the treatment with no other sensation except relaxation.

After a course of Lightwave Therapy, you may notice a more youthful appearance with a softening of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and an overall plumper, brighter look.

LED Light Therapy is often used in conjunction with chemical peels during a clinical medi-facial, and as a stand-alone treatment. It is also a great way to heal and reduce inflammation in sensitive skin that suffers from acne, rosacea and perioral dermatitis.

Please allow 30 minutes for a stand-alone treatment.

How Lightwave Therapy Works

Red Light Therapy targets the fibroblasts, which are responsible for collagen production. It also assists in bringing blood to the skin’s surface, improving circulation and nourishing the skin layers. These qualities make Red light a very effective treatment for skin rejuvenation, uneven skin tone, wound healing as well as general anti-ageing.

Blue Light Therapy is associated with killing bacteria and reducing oil flow making it a wonderful treatment for active acne and acne-prone skin. Red and Blue may be used in combination to assist in reducing inflamed acne breakouts or dermatitis.

Infrared Light Therapy is invisible to the human eye, but the lightwave penetrates the skin layers more deeply than red or blue light. This makes it very effective for inflammatory conditions and healing for all skin types due to its ability to generate heat within the deeper layers of the skin. The sensation is reported as a pleasant warmth akin to lying in the sun.

LED is not advised for those with epilepsy or those who suffer from light-induced migraines.
