Ankle Liposuction – Before and After Photos

Women with thick calves and ankles are often helped by liposuction to these areas.

The goal is to reduce the bulk of the calf and make the lower leg look slender and longer. The ideal lower leg should taper all the way down to the ankle, with good definition around the Achilles tendon rising up from the ankle. Liposuction can achieve all of these.

Small amounts of fat removal can change the shape of the ankle dramatically. Sometimes there are hereditary collections of fat in these areas and removal of these can reduce the circumference of the ankle by half.

In some women the thickness in lower calves and ankles (often referred to as “cankles”) is actually due to muscle rather than fat.  An ultrasound performed at Palm Clinic in Auckland can differentiate between muscle and fat in order to define suitability for the procedure.

Liposuction with very fine cannnulas can ensure a precise sculpting effect producing thinner ankles and calves.

It is usual to perform liposuction to the whole of the calves and ankles as fat is usually distributed evenly along the lower leg, however in some circumstances the ultrasound may demonstrate that the fat is localised to the ankle area only.

FAQ

Who suits ankle or calf liposuction?
Any woman who has fullness to the lower part of the lower leg may benefit. If your legs look full at the bottom or there is poor definition of the achilles tendon, then liposuction may well help
Are there any scars?

There are usually 2-3 small 5mm wide access holes at the base of the ankle. These are sutured after the procedure and heal quickly afterwards.

What support garments are required?

A special stocking is used after ankle and calf liposuction. This area is prone to swell following the procedure and the stocking is usually required for a period of four weeks.

How long does the procedure take?

Most procedures for the calves and ankles take from between 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

How much time will I need off?
In general you should plan on returning to work on day three. It would be about four weeks before normal gym activities or jogging should be restarted.
What other areas are treated at the same time?
Many women also have a problem with fullness over the knee and sometimes also the thigh. These can be treated at the same time or separately.
What about the cost?
The cost of an ankle liposuction procedure varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether the area is treated alone or in conjunction with other areas. Book a consultation for a more accurate costing or phone Palm Clinic on 09 522-8128 for an appointment.
