How tumescent liposuction can improve your appearance
Appearance is one facet of life where we can exert some control – our style of hair, makeup and clothing, size and shape of our bodies. Diet and exercise can help us to shed kilos and look better in our clothing; however it’s not always that easy and we can and do experience troublesome, problem areas. Troubled by your tummy’s appearance? The abdomen or tummy area is a problem spot for many women, particularly after childbirth. No matter how restrictive the diet or how many crunches one does, the fat deposits do not seem to budge. Fortunately, the abdomen is an area of the body that responds extremely well to liposuction.
Unwanted accumulations of fat can shape your body in the most unflattering way, making clothes more difficult to wear and nothing ever seems to look good.
This assault on confidence levels can be hard to bear – day in, day out.
Liposuction to the tummy and waist is often extremely helpful in these situations, and skin laxity is rarely a problem after the procedure. In fact, even if there are quite large overhangs of skin you may not need a “tummy tuck”.
What is tumescent liposuction?
Abdomen liposuction performed under “tumescent anaesthetic” is called tumescent liposuction or Liposculpture. Our earlier post “How liposuction can streamline and shape your body” highlights the effectiveness of Liposculpture and how the term differs from conventional Liposuction.
Liposculpture allows the tummy to be sculptured while you are awake and can be moved around to achieve 3D body contouring.
The hips are commonly included when tummy liposuction is performed to achieve greater definition and contouring. Usually the upper and lower sections of the abdomen are treated at the same time and this helps to get rid of the troublesome fat deposits within the midriff area.
Size is not an issue or concern, any size of abdomen can be treated with liposuction, small abdomens can be flattened for a “washboard stomach” and pot bellies removed. The only caveat is that sometimes some of the fat may be visceral fat inside the abdomen. This type of fat is not available for liposuction.
It’s not all about the tummy – hips and thighs
As it is commonly combined with hips, abdomen liposculpture can be tailored to reduce the size of the whole torso, creating a narrow waist, getting rid of that square, matronly look – giving definition, shape and contour to your midriff. Carrying this rejuvenation to other areas of the body like inner and outer thighs, can deliver amazing and dramatic results.
The desire for shape, contour and definition is not confined to the abdomen alone. The inner thighs and outer thighs are one of the most common areas treated by liposuction for women.
Here are two of the most common reasons:
- Bulky thighs are often hereditary, and can increase dramatically in size at puberty
- After pregnancy, there is often an excessive accumulation of fat in the thigh area
Liposculpture to the thighs is very rewarding as vast improvement in shape is possible. For others even a subtle improvement can be a blessing.
Pear shapes rejoice
Shaping the lower body to cohesively fit with a smaller top half is an issue many women have to face. Pear shaped women are characterised by a relatively slender body from the waist up, with the area from the hips down being proportionately larger.
It can appear in many instances, as though the thighs belong to another person. They are heavy and they bulge.
With liposculpture it is possible to bring these two halves of the body back into proportion. If you suffer from inner thighs that rub together causing irritation, Liposculpture can eliminate this problem, or at least make it much better.
Outer thighs or “saddle bags” as they are commonly known, are accumulations of fat over the outer thigh. Removing them gets rid of the bulge that is clearly visible when you look at the body directly, from either the front or back. The change in appearance is often dramatic.
Removal of the “saddle bags” or outer thighs can make a huge difference to body shape, not to mention how much easier to wear and flattering your clothing will be.
The cost of Liposculpture varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether they are treated alone or in combination with other areas.
