Summer Ready & Longevity

Protect, prevent & look your best all summer

November is the most strategically important month in the skin longevity calendar. The decisions you make now determine how your skin looks — and how it ages — across the entire summer season.

Woman with eyes closed and clear, glowing skin
UV damage & photoageing

Summer UV is New Zealand’s most significant
skin ageing factor. And it starts now.

New Zealand has some of the highest UV radiation levels in the world — a consequence of our position in the Southern Hemisphere, lower atmospheric ozone, and proximity to the ocean. By November, UV index levels in Auckland are rising rapidly toward summer peaks that can reach 12 or above, meaning unprotected skin can begin to burn in under 10 minutes.

The damage this UV causes is not only immediate. Every summer of cumulative UV exposure degrades collagen and elastin fibres, triggers melanin production that creates uneven pigmentation, and causes DNA changes in skin cells that compound over years into premature ageing. Most of this damage is invisible as it occurs — it surfaces gradually, as fine lines, brown spots, and a loss of skin density and clarity, often years after the exposure that caused it.

SPF is the single most evidence-based intervention in skin longevity — and November is the moment to make it non-negotiable.

The clinical case for SPF

Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen prevents more skin ageing than any other single treatment.

The evidence is unambiguous: daily SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sunscreen, applied correctly, has been shown in longitudinal studies to significantly reduce visible skin ageing caused by UV. At Palm Clinic, SPF education is built into every treatment conversation from November onward — not as an add-on, but as the foundational step without which every other treatment is working against the current. We’ll help you find the right formulation for your skin type and build a daily protection habit before summer UV peaks.

This is not simply a seasonal promotion. It is a clinical reality: the treatments that correct photoageing are most safely and effectively performed when UV is lowest.

How the treatments work

EltaMD Sun Protection

We’re pleased to introduce EltaMD to Palm Clinic. Developed for use in dermatology and skin clinics, EltaMD’s sunscreens are light, elegant and easy to wear every day — the kind of SPF you’ll actually reach for. Every formula starts at SPF 50. Our skin team has chosen a small edit to suit New Zealand summers and every skin type.

Every complimentary Skin Health & Longevity Consultation includes a personal SPF recommendation, matched to your skin and your summer.

EltaMD UV Sheer

A weightless, sheer daily face sunscreen that disappears into the skin. Ideal under makeup or on its own, and our pick for everyday summer protection.

EltaMD UV Skin Recovery

Daily sun protection with added hydration for dry, sensitive or recovering skin. A gentle choice after in-clinic treatments, when skin needs extra care.

EltaMD UV Lip Balm

Lips burn easily and are often forgotten. This balm protects and moisturises in one step — one for the pocket, the beach bag and the car.

Collagen loss & the neck

The neck ages faster than the face.
And it’s almost never treated.

Collagen — the structural protein that gives skin its firmness and resilience — begins to decline from our mid-twenties at a rate of approximately 1% per year. By the time visible signs appear, significant loss has already occurred. The face often receives clinical attention as this happens. The neck and décolletage, which have thinner skin, fewer sebaceous glands and are exposed to the same UV but receive a fraction of the skincare, frequently do not.

The result is the disconnect that many clients notice in their early forties — a face that looks well-cared-for above a neck that tells a different story. Dermapen dermal needling applied to the neck triggers the same collagen induction response as it does on the face: controlled micro-injury stimulates new collagen and elastin production in the dermis, building density and firmness across a course of three sessions. Pre-summer is the right time to begin — UV on the neck is manageable during treatment, and results develop fully before the high-exposure months arrive.

Why include the neck now

Summer is when the neck is most visible – and most exposed.

Lower necklines, swimwear and warmer weather mean the neck and décolletage receive significantly more attention — and UV exposure — in summer. Beginning a Dermapen neck course in November means the skin has completed its collagen remodelling response before the high-exposure season begins, and arrives at summer with improved texture, firmness and resilience.

A face and neck programme is the complete treatment

Preventative cosmetic medicine

The best time to start is before
you think you need to.

The language of cosmetic medicine has traditionally been reactive — treating lines that have already formed, restoring volume that has already been lost. Preventative cosmetic medicine takes the opposite approach: intervening early, before visible changes are established, to slow the processes that create them and build the skin quality that prevents them from forming.

For muscle relaxant treatments, this means beginning in the late twenties or early thirties, before expression lines have had years to engrave themselves into the skin. For biostimulators like HArmonyCa®, it means stimulating collagen production while the skin still has the capacity to respond robustly. The results of preventative treatment are not dramatic because they are not correcting an established deficit — they are the quiet accumulation of a skin that has been looked after, consistently, over time.

Book in November. Peak results through the summer social season.

HArmonyCa® is a unique injectable that combines immediate structural support with a long-term biostimulation effect — calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that provide instant lift and volume while stimulating the skin’s own collagen production over the following months. The collagen response peaks at approximately three months post-treatment. A November booking means your results are at their best through January and February — precisely when the summer social season is at its height.

This is the logic of skin longevity: planning your treatments around when you want the results, not around when you notice the concern.
