Dr Maya Steeper

Maya joined the Palm Team in January 2020 and she’s well known in the community as a GP in the Freemans Bay area.

Maya has gained her wide-ranging experience, in a variety of roles. After studying medicine in Otago, she worked at Nelson Hospital before heading off overseas. Her first stop was Dublin, where she worked in the emergency department of the large teaching hospital, Mater. Leaving Ireland, her next stop was Kimberly Desert in outback Australia as a Senior Medical Officer.

Returning to New Zealand Maya trained as a GP, working in both city and rural practices. Maya is a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of GP’s, has post-graduate qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Palliative Care and has a certificate of Sclerotherapy attained through the Australasian College of Phlebology.
