How to Maintain Your Liposuction Results

Undergoing liposuction can work wonders for one’s appearance, body contour, and even self-esteem. However, most people have a common misconception that once you undergo the procedure, nothing is required on your part to maintain and keep your liposuction results. On the contrary, you must adopt certain lifestyle choices to ensure your liposuction results are maintained.

Here at Palm Clinic, we’ve helped plenty of men and women achieve their ideal results with our specialised liposuction procedures. Below are some expert tips from our cosmetic surgeons on how to successfully maintain your liposuction results:

Exercise regularly

Once you’ve gotten rid of an excess bulge, exercise should be a part of your regular routine to ensure those bulges don’t come back. While it’s advisable to rest your body for a certain period after your liposuction procedure, your doctor will let you know when your body is fully healed and able to undertake a regular exercise regimen.

Regular exercise should include strength exercises as well as aerobic workouts so you can grow muscles and keep the fat off. You should avoid a sedentary lifestyle so you can stay healthy and lean. If you’re fitting this into your working life, you can do this by taking the stairs whenever possible, getting up and moving around the office every so often, and taking part in a sport such as swimming or tennis.

Follow a healthy diet

A good exercise regime should be complemented by a healthy diet to get the best results. Make healthy dietary choices to ensure the fat stays off, by avoiding high-calorie or high-fat products. Eat whole grains and lean protein instead, and include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your meals.

Drink plenty of water

The general recommendation for adults is to drink at least two litres of water per day, depending on your body type and activity level. It’s essential to stay hydrated in our day-to-day lives so we can successfully manage our physical and mental health – not just after undergoing a liposuction procedure. Drinking water helps control hunger, maintains a healthy metabolism, and aids in digestion. It’s also best to swap out any carbonated or sugary drinks with fresh, clean water, helping control your sugar intake and weight.

Don’t skip meals

People often think that not eating altogether will keep their weight levels down – this is wrong. Skipping meals will only slow down your metabolism and cause you to overeat after a certain period of time. It’s best to eat small meals throughout the day to maintain consistent energy levels, helping you avoid eating too much at once and preventing your metabolic rate from dropping.
